New Pets!

I got new pets! Isn't that just so exciting? Well they are not really new I guess, I got them about a week ago, or two. So what did I got?

Say hello to Simon Pegg and James Franco! Sim and Jim for short!

The one who's busy running is Jim and the one biting the dictionary is Sim. It was hard to tell the difference between those two until I figured out that Jim's lining on his back is darker and Sim was fatter (Now they're all just as fat). So far they've been sweet... okay maybe I'm lying a little. Sim is just wild, he loves to bite my fingers when I try to handle him. Jim is okay I think, he doesn't bite as much as Sim does.

This is Sim
This is Jim

...not that you're interested.

Well no wonder they love to bite, they're Campbell's Russian dwarf hamsters, yeah the one who discovered them was a Campbell. If you got a hamster, you really should know the type because there are some dont's for certain types e.g two Syrians shouldn't be put in the same cage or they will fight to death (I know, crazy right, how they kill with those teeny tiny paws) and Campbell's should not be fed with sugary food because they can have diabetes... which can be inherited. Different types have different behaviors too, like for example dwarfs love to bite. But if you were thinking about getting a dwarf hamster but you're afraid to get bitten, don't be. Their bites don't hurt, mostly.

Getting these little pals was a totally random idea. They were really cheap (like $1.30 each) and I've always wanted a pet or two. Well they may be cheap but they are lovely! Well we do not interact much except with the biting -_____- but even just watching them is fun so I'm so happy with the presence of this duet :)

Pets are always fun and cute (ok not always cute but usually) but with any pet, great or not, comes great responsibility. Maybe someone's reading this right now (lol I wish!) and actually thinking about getting a hamster. Before really getting one think of having one. Imagine how your life is gonna be with a pet to take care of. Pets are like your very own kid, you can't just leave them to grow by themselves, you gotta guide them with TLC. So, if you think you can't handle it, DO NOT get any pet. You're just gonna make the lives of those cute little monsters miserable.

Be good to your pets!
Be good to your kids!

P.S. TLC = Tender Lovin Care! And I'll take you there~ *quits singing*

Charlie and The Great Glass Elevator

(Originally written on 12:05 AM, December 13, 2010)

Sooo yeah, it’s been a while since the last time I posted here! And I’m truuuuuly sorry but no one reads my blog anyway right -.-

Anyways I just finished reading Charlie and The Great Glass Elevator which as everyone knows is a sequel to Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. Actually I bought the book a loooooong time ago but after I bought it I just read the first two pages or so then it ended up just right there in the bookshelf (with some other unread books lol). And today I was having a really really bad mood because of my failure in finishing my Data Structure and Algorithm third assignment, and I coped with that in the afternoon by playing Lego Star Wars II on my computer but working (or playing) with the computer for a long time always gives me headache and nausea so I had to stop by the end of the afternoon so there was I, having no idea what to do and almost ended up having a mental breakdown D: Then at 10:30ish PM I decided to read the book. I took Panadol Extra (a medicine for bad bad headache, in case you have no idea) and isolated myself from the outside world by turning my cellphones off so there would be no distractions while reading. And I can say it was a wise decision. Without any phones vibrating because of texts, emails, messages, or IMs, I finished the book by the time it was 12:00 and you know what now I’m having a great mood. The book was totally great and funny. The Oompa-Loompas were adorable (as usual) but actually there was a new type of weird creatures called Knids and I can say it’s pretty scary. It’s the type of creature mommy’s would use to scare kids to bed, you know like, “ Go to bed or the Knids will get you!”. And as usual Roald Dahl played with words many times that’s why I kind of regret buying the translated one because I missed the whole fun. If you wanna read it make sure you read the one in English! Yeah buy the one in English and read it ASAP! I’m sure you’re gonna love it (if you enjoy children’s books of course).

The awesome Illustration as always by Quentin Blake

So I guess that’s it! Toodles for now!

P.S. Shoutout to class of 2010 in Fasilkom who had their MK (Momen Keakraban? Malam Keakraban? Momen Kekerabatan? I don’t know for sure -.-) last night. Welcome aboard :)

DSA: The First Assignment

(Originally written on September 27 2010, 11:56 pm.

Well about a week ago, I received a Data Structure and Algorithm assignment to make a program to handle the line in a hospital (you know, almost-dead kids come first bla bla bla instead of first come first served) and I started working on it one or two days ago, I don’t really remember. Today, a day before the deadline, I finished it and before that, it was a rough patch.

The day started out normal, woke up at Joy’s because I stayed there to work on the assignment (although I ended up watching more episodes of 30 rock. But hey I did find one major bug there) and I can say I had a goooood sleep, probably because I was so tired the day before. So at like 1 or 2 pm I thought I finished the assignment because I tested it and it went well. With all of my happiness I uploaded it, done uploading, then grading. I think I really finished it (and btw Queen’s We Are The Champions was playing on my iTunes. How dramatic!) but guess what, 5 FAILURES OUT OF 7 TEST CASES. I was like WHAAAAT because it went just well for me! Aren’s a total douchebag (Aren is the name of the server where I uploaded it)! I started panicking and then Joy and I decided to consult Encok and friends at their place.

When me and Joy was walking to the main street from Joy’s house, suddenly it poured. We started panicking because damn it was one heavy rain. We stopped and I opened up Joy’s umbrella when suddenly I heard a bark. Well, barks. Two dogs came out from under a parked car right beside me, barking at me and Joy wildly. Of course we started freaking out, we were shouting like crazy but no one’s around! I shooed them with the umbrella, thank God it worked, but as a result Joy and I were all wet.

Ok so long story short Joy and I were almost at Encok’s. We were walking and it was sort of flooding, the water level was like around 2 inches above the ground so my shoes and my legs were totally wet. Ew. And Joy’s flip flops malfunctioned HAHA we both must have looked so weird in the rain yelling and freaking out like crazy. The cool thing was Joy was able to fix her right flip flop, so she didn’t have to drag it all the way to Encok’s. But still, it really was embarrassing, how we were like a couple of freaks in the rain -.-

When we got at Encok’s, I was like WOW, turned out there were so many people there. Everyone was busy with themselves and those who were not were busy helping others so I had to figured it all myself anyway T____T Well with some homemade test cases (whatever -.-) I found some bugs and yay 2 FAILURES OUT OF 7 TEST CASES! Not so bad right :D But after that point I think I lost my luck. I tested everything but the output was always right. And my phone broke down, FML! I ended up watching more episodes of 30 rock because I couldn’t find any more bugs. I was desperate and so depressed. And anyways I cried, what the hell right, that’s so lame -.-

As time flew by, everyone there finished, no failures anymore for them. I was the last one standing (failing, actually). But then everyone started helping out. I actually had 4 people excluding me staring at my codes trying to figure out what’s wrong! They were all just so kind and sincere <3>

Well, maybe I did have a bad day. But the feeling of accomplishment that I got tonight paid it off. It made me feel proud of myself, and pride, oh well, isn’t it just one of the best thing in the world?

Thinking about it, don’t ever think of being alone in Fasilkom. You will not make it if you’re not half cyborg, or better.

Recent Updates - About Blogging

Oh boy, I totally have neglected this blog. No wonder though. Blogging to me used to be the boredom antidote and now I have many alternative antidotes which I can say are definitely much more fun than blogging. But yeah mostly those alternatives are not as productive as blogging (hahah of course!) so that is why I think I have to revive my blog, just to channel the productive part of me, otherwise I will have my brain disfunctional by the end of the holiday.

Writing for me now is not as easy as how it was. Like this post, to write this piece of crap I have to have people reminding me how neglected my blog is and I have to be up at 3:47 in the middle of the night (not that it’s hard to be up at this time, trust me, I’m up at this time EVERYDAY during holidays) having insomnia plus not having GTA as an option to spend my night with and I have to run out of ideas to daydream. The last one is the hardest condition to meet since I daydream a lot usually and actually it’s kind of effective to bring you back to sleep. Plus there are still very distracting distractions. Just now I decided to shuffle my iTunes and a Backstreet Boys’ song played and I could not help but to sing along. Thank God the next song was a The Killer’s song which I did not know so I could not sing along to it. And there are other distractions like instant cup noodles and my phone. Look it’s 4:23 already and I only have written two pointless paragraph. And now it’s already 5 and I only came up with another pointless sentence.

Seriously this is saddening, how this post almost end up like the previous ones, undone and unposted. But thank God it doesn’t. From now on I will try to write more.

I will write more.

I promise you, blog.

P.S. Actually I wrote that promising sentence just to finish this post as soon as possible (See 4 or 5 short repeated sentences and it’s done). How saddening.
